- High mountain karst (Northern Limestone Alps)
- quantification of chemical weathering processes and correlative relief forms (also in arid deserts: Egypt, Jordan)
- Mediterranean karst (Montenegro, Dinarides)
- Soil and vegetation development in orobiomes (Central Asia, Alps, East Africa, Dinarides)
- Soil patterns in karst areas (Terra fusca; O/C soils): allochthonous soil types (subalpine to subnival: Camibsole) under the influence of eolian dusts and loess
- Quantification of airborne dust (recent: Sahara dust events)
- Geomorphology (periglacial morphodynamics in alpine permafrost areas of Central Asia: Tien Shan, Pamir)
